The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has attributed the disruption recorded in the ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to a combination of logistical and operational challenges.
In a statement issued on Monday, Moyosola Adesina, Head of Public Affairs for WAEC Nigeria, explained that the delay was linked to recent protests over abducted schoolchildren, as well as the tragic loss of three WAEC staff members in a road crash in Gombe.
Adesina added that other operational difficulties also contributed to the situation, which resulted in some candidates writing examinations late into the night.
