OGSIEC Presents Certificate of Return to Iperu III Ward 5 Councillor-Elect - The Alternative News

 



The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), has presented Certificate of Return to the winner of last Saturday’s Councillorship bye-election in Iperu III, Ward 5, Ikenne Local Government Area of the State.

Presenting the certificate to the winner, Hon. Monsuru Osho at the OGSIEC Headquarters in Abeokuta, Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, said the successful conduct of the election marked  the formal conclusion of the electoral process for the vacant legislative seat.

Osibodu, congratulated Hon. Osho on his victory, noting that the large entourage accompanying him was a clear testament to the will of the people and a reflection of the trust reposed in him by his constituency.

The OGSIEC boss enjoined the Councillor-elect to approach his new mandate with a deep sense of responsibility, emphasising that public office is fundamentally a call to service.

" You are the first point of contact in your ward. I urge you to prioritise the welfare of the people who voted you into power above personal interests. See your position as a unique platform to give back to your community," he stated.

In his remark, Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Jamiu Ashimi, represented by his Vice, Hon. Muhammad Afuape, expressed appreciation to the electoral umpire for its conduct throughout the process, commending the commission's professionalism during the bye-election which he described as exemplary.

Responding after receiving his certificate, Hon. Osho, commended OGSIEC team for ensuring a smooth and transparent process before, during and after the polls. He commended the commission for maintaining high standards that validated the democratic choice of the electorate.

While pledging his commitment to the progress of his constituency, he promised to dedicate his tenure to the holistic development of Iperu Ward 5, adding that his development agenda would extend to supporting the broader growth and advancement of the entire Ikenne Local Government Area.
