The Ogun State government has commenced a free health Insurance Scheme for all retirees across the State, a programme for their wellness and wellbeing.
Permanent Secretary, Bureau of State Pensions, Mrs. Arinola Adetayo, made this known in Abeokuta, saying that State government had decided to bring on board the scheme in order to ensure that post retirement stages for retirees were spent in peace, sound health and immense bliss.
She noted that Ogun State government through the State Health Insurance Agency had begun the Pensioners Health Insurance Registration exercise for Senior Citizens in all Treasury Cash Offices (TCO's) in the State from Monday 29th June, 2026 and would run till to Friday 3rd July, 2026.
She further stated that the designated centres in the State where the exercise would hold include; NUP State Secretariat Event Centre Abeokuta, Cathedral Church Hall, Ona Ola Ayetoro, Treasury cash Office, Ibi Ade, Treasury Cash Office Ijebu Ode, Treasury Cash Office Ijebu Igbo, Pensioners Hall AUD Compound Ota and NUP Secretariat Balufon Road Sagamu.
Mrs Adetayo, thereafter encouraged all retirees to use the opportunity register in order to enjoy free health Insurance premium without paying any amount, thus, improving the standard of living of senior citizens in the State.
The Executive Secretary, Ogun State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, shed more light on the purpose of the registration exercise, saying it was for documentation and record purpose for both the State and Local government Pensioners.
Reacting, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State branch, Alhaji Waheed Oloyede, appreciated the State government for direct move in taking care of the welfare of Senior Citizens by introducing free health insurance which would erase health related expenses.
