Rabe’s Son Faults Official Claim, Speaks on Father’s Health History - The Alternative News

One of the sons of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd), Isyaka Rabe, has dismissed claims that his father suffered from diabetes or high blood pressure prior to his death.

Speaking in an interview with Deutsche Welle (DW), Isyaka described reports linking his father’s death to diabetes as inaccurate, countering earlier statements attributed to the Katsina State Government.

He noted that some observers believe the late general may have died from a snake bite, citing the last video released by his abductors. However, he stressed that the actual cause of death remains uncertain.

“Only God knows the actual cause of his father’s death,” he said, while offering prayers for the repose of the deceased, whom he described as a deeply religious and peace-loving man who lived a simple life.

Isyaka also revealed that the family has no details about how the body of the late general was recovered.

“When I announced the time for my father’s funeral prayer, many people asked how the body was recovered. I told them I did not know and that such questions should be directed to the government,” he explained.

He further disclosed that his mother, who was abducted alongside his father, is still in captivity, debunking social media reports suggesting she had been released.

“Take it from me, our mother is still in captivity. She has not been released,” he said.

Meanwhile, the late general’s daughter, Adda Abubakar, had earlier stated on social media that her father did not suffer from diabetes, insisting instead that a snake bite caused his death.

The late general and his wife were abducted on May 30, 2026, along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. He later died while in captivity.

However, while announcing his death, the state government maintained that he died from complications related to diabetes and hypertension, a claim now being disputed by family members.
