The reconstruction and commissioning of the Adesan-Abere Road in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State has continued to attract commendation from traditional rulers, transport operators, residents and other stakeholders, who have described the project as a strategic intervention that has transformed transportation, improved connectivity and stimulated socio-economic development in the area.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Ogun State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, said the project had further demonstrated the unwavering commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration to delivering quality infrastructure that enhanced the well-being of the people and supported sustainable economic growth across the State.

According to the Commissioner, the Adesan-Abere Road served as a vital bypass that linked the Mowe/Ofada Road with the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, while also providing access to the ongoing Sagamu–Papalanto–Ilaro–Obelle Road corridor. He noted that efficient road infrastructure remained indispensable to the movement of people, goods and services, stressing that the reconstructed road would significantly reduce travel time, improve connectivity and create a more enabling environment for businesses and investments to flourish.

Engr. Akinsanya, appealed to residents and road users to take ownership of the project by protecting the infrastructure, ensuring that drainage channels remain free of refuse and avoid activities capable of damaging road infrastructure.

In his remarks, the Olu of Mowe, Oba Oriyomi Yahaya, expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for the timely intervention, noting that good road infrastructure was fundamental to the development of any community.

He said the reconstructed road would improve access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services, while accelerating commercial activities and improving the quality of life of residents.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Mustapha Adewale, described the project as a welcome development for commercial transport operators and commuters.

He observed that the improved road would reduce vehicle maintenance costs, minimise wear and tear and shorten travel time. He pledged the union’s support towards safeguarding the infrastructure and urged motorists to avoid overloading and reckless driving in order to prolong the lifespan of the road.

A resident, Mrs. Adenike Adeleke, also lauded the State Government, saying the reconstruction of the road had brought lasting relief to residents who previously endured difficult commuting conditions, expressed optimism that the improved road network would attract more businesses, encourage investment and enhance socio-economic activities within the community.

The Adesan-Abere Road remained one of several strategic road projects executed by the Ogun State Government under the infrastructure development agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun, aimed at strengthening connectivity, unlocking economic opportunities and improving the standard of living of the people across the State.
