Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged the newly installed Onilupeju of Ilupeju-Agbara in Ado-odo Ota Local Government, Oba Adamson Hassan, to prioritise development within his community and align with the State’s broader agenda for progress.
The Governor, made the remarks during the official installation and presentation of instruments of office to the new monarch at Ilupeju-Agbara.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Governor said engagement with grassroot communities remained an ongoing process, hence, the government would not hesitate to upgrade a deserving heir to the stool of a coronet Oba.
He therefore charged the new Oba to show renewed commitment to the people, noting that "this installation is essential for enhancing capacity and accelerating development at the grassroots level," he said.
In his address, Chairman, Ado-Odo, Ota Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Lawal, emphasised that the installation signified the State government's reinforcement of traditional institutions at the grassroots, urging the Ilupeju kingdom, to reciprocate by supporting the government.
He highlighted the vital roles traditional institutions play in fostering peace and progress within communities. "It is equally important for the people to complement government efforts by fulfilling their obligations, such as paying taxes, rates, and other statutory levies, for the collective benefit of all," he added.
The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, represented by Alagbara of Agbara, Oba Jayeola Agunbiade, conveyed his felicitations to the new monarch, expressing gratitude to the Governor for honouring Oba Hassan and encouraged him to strive for excellence in his domain, charging him further to effectively utilise both human and material resources to achieve sustainable growth and development.
In a significant development, Governor Abiodun has appointed Oba Alagbe Adio Maroof as the Elegushi of Egushi in Ado Odo/Ota.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun urged the newly installed monarch to support the State government's efforts in combating land grabbing and related crimes.
In his goodwill message, the Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, encouraged the monarch to collaborate closely with the government and engage with other royal leaders to ensure a successful reign.
The event was attended by notable figures, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hazmat, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, Senior Special Assistants to the Governor, the Oloja-ekun of Igbesa, Oba AbdulAzeez Oluwatoyin Akinde, along with other royal dignitaries and esteemed guests.
