Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, have successfully rescued 33 passengers who were abducted by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of JTF North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

According to Danja, the rescue operation was carried out on August 8, following credible intelligence indicating that terrorists had abducted commuters travelling through the Magazu area of Tsafe LGA.

He explained that troops, alongside police personnel deployed in Tsafe, swiftly mobilised to the scene upon receiving the information.

Danja further revealed that the security operatives made contact with the terrorists while they were attempting to move the abducted passengers to an undisclosed location.

“The troops engaged the terrorists with effective firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into the surrounding bushes.

“The troops subsequently secured and rescued all 33 abducted persons without any casualty,” he stated.
