The Federal Government has deployed a special passport intervention team to the United Kingdom to accelerate the processing of passport applications for Nigerians in the diaspora.

The team, dispatched by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is expected to arrive in the UK on Monday. It will collaborate with the Nigerian High Commission to facilitate passport enrolment and processing.

According to a statement issued by the NIS on Sunday, the intervention team will visit designated cities across the UK to handle pending applications, new requests and passport renewals.

The initiative is open to applicants with outstanding passport applications, first-time applicants and individuals whose passports have less than one year to expiration and wish to renew.

Applicants are required to present their completed application forms alongside proof of payment during the enrolment process.

The NIS added that a comprehensive schedule detailing the cities, dates, venues and enrolment times will be released soon. It advised applicants to wait for the official announcement before proceeding to any location and to follow updates through the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
