Law School Student Dies After Falling From Lagos Campus Hostel Rooftop - The Alternative News

A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Faith Alayande, has died after falling from the rooftop of a hostel at the institution’s Lagos Campus, Tribune Online reports.

The incident occurred at about 4:00am on Friday, August 7, 2026, while Alayande, a student of the Nigerian Law School’s Enugu Campus, was undergoing an externship programme in Lagos.

The management of the Nigerian Law School confirmed the incident on Monday, saying it had commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

In a statement, Aderonke Osho, Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, said preliminary information indicated that Alayande fell from the hostel rooftop and sustained injuries from which she later died.

“The Nigerian Law School is deeply saddened by this tragic development,” the statement said.

The institution said it was working with relevant authorities and Alayande’s family to establish what happened and ensure that all necessary procedures were followed.

The management expressed condolences to the deceased’s family, colleagues and others affected by the incident. It also appealed to members of the public and the media to respect the family’s request for privacy during the mourning period.

The Lagos State Police Command also confirmed the incident, stating that the hostel matron reported the case after the student was found unresponsive on the premises.

Police officers reportedly visited the scene and evacuated the body to a morgue, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death continue.

The Nigerian Law School further reaffirmed its commitment to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of its students and staff.
