Monarch Urged To Accelerate Development - The Alternative News



The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged Coronet Monarch, Oba Adekunle Mustapha of Ibasa community to prioritise peaceful reign and enhance harmonious coexistence within his domain.


Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Governor Abiodun, conveyed this message during the official installation and presentation of instruments of appointment to the monarch at Ibasa, in Obafemi-Owode Local Government.


In his address, Governor Abiodun, emphasised that the appointment of the Kabiyesi, was a call to serve the people, hence the need for him to hold on tenaciously to these tenets and lead initiatives that would promote peaceful relations with neighbouring communities. The Governor encouraged Oba Mustapha,to collaborate with other royal fathers in Ogun State to uphold the trust and mandate bestowed upon him.


He also urged the residents of Ibasa to support their new monarch, stating, "I enjoin you as a community to give your new Kabiyesi all the support and cooperation required to move your community forward. This is imperative because experience has shown that there can be no meaningful development in any atmosphere of rancor and acrimony."


Earlier, the Chairman of Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Hon. Ogunsola Olanrewaju, represented by his Special Adviser on Water Supply, Hon. Adenekan Rasheed, encouraged the Oba to align with the agenda of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, pledged necessary support for his reign.


"I am glad to record this installation during my administration as Chairman, Obafemi-Owode Local Government. My charge to the new Oba is to sustain existing security and promote peaceful coexistence, which are strong foundations for socio-economic development," he added.


In his goodwill message, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, represented by the Olu of Orile-Itesi, Oba Oluyinka Adebisi, extended his congratulations to the newly appointed monarch, urging the Oba to demonstrate selflessness and to be cautious of actions that could damage his reputation. He emphasised the importance of collaborating with the government to promote grassroots development within his domain.


In his acceptance speech, Oba Mustapha, expressed gratitude to the State government and affirmed his commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence and enhancing the quality of life in Ibasa-Ajegunle Kingdom.


The event was attended by clerics, Baales, sons and daughters of the Ibasa community.
