The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has embarked on a vacation after spending more than 30 days commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing projects across Abuja.

Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, disclosed this in a post on X on Monday.

According to Olayinka, the minister used the period to inspect and review several projects across the FCT, particularly those scheduled for commissioning in December and January next year.

“Holiday time for Nyerisi. He is somewhere in the world, relaxing after spending over 30 days, commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing ones, especially those scheduled for commissioning in December and January, next year,” Olayinka wrote.

Wike has, in recent weeks, been involved in several project commissioning and inspection activities across Abuja as the FCT Administration intensifies efforts to complete major infrastructure projects.

Olayinka said the minister has now taken time off to rest following the extended period of official engagements.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, was appointed FCT Minister by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023. Since assuming office, he has prioritised road construction and rehabilitation, public infrastructure development, expansion of public facilities and the development of satellite towns.

His latest vacation comes as the FCT Administration continues work on projects expected to be commissioned in the coming months.
