ABUJA - The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged members of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) to demonstrate their political influence through measurable results rather than relying solely on their appointments or positions.
Wike made the call during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, where he addressed party leaders, governors and other political stakeholders.
According to a release issued by the Media and Publicity Team of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA), Wike also urged opposition political figures to acknowledge what he considers the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, arguing that political differences should not prevent an objective assessment of government policies and performance.
Speaking at the event, the former Rivers State governor described himself as a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while explaining his support for President Tinubu. He maintained that political affiliation should not stop politicians from recognising government policies and decisions they consider beneficial to the country.
Wike disagreed with opposition narratives portraying the Tinubu administration as lacking direction, arguing that the President had demonstrated a willingness to confront difficult national challenges that previous administrations had acknowledged but failed to address adequately.
On national security, the FCT Minister expressed confidence in the administration's ability to tackle insecurity. He also highlighted the proposed establishment of state police as a reform that could strengthen security management across the country.
The proposal for state police has continued to generate national debate, particularly regarding constitutional safeguards, funding, accountability and the relationship between federal and state authorities.
Wike further challenged members of the Presidential Campaign Council to translate their political influence into tangible achievements within their respective areas of responsibility, stressing the importance of measurable results.
In a review of the inauguration, FORCEPA's Media and Publicity Team identified Wike's intervention as one of the notable moments of the event.
The inauguration brought together political figures from different parties, including Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
According to the FORCEPA Media and Publicity Team, the event provided an opportunity to document the positions expressed by political stakeholders on governance, public accountability, security reforms and the relationship between political competition and national development.
The forum maintained that public discussions on government performance should be guided by verifiable policies, measurable outcomes and the experiences of Nigerians across different sectors.
