Tension gripped Udei community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday following an attempted attack by suspected herdsmen, which reportedly resulted in the killing of three police officers.
According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants ambushed the officers during the attack and allegedly made away with their service rifles.
The Benue State Police Command and other security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
This latest development adds to the growing concerns over insecurity in Benue, a state frequently affected by farmer-herder conflicts and armed violence.
