Panic and grief have gripped Tse Yange, a Tiv-majority village in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, following a deadly attack by suspected armed herdsmen late Sunday night.

According to local sources, the assailants stormed the community on motorbikes, executing a coordinated assault that led to the killing of the village head and the abduction of several residents.

The attackers reportedly invaded the peaceful agrarian settlement under the cover of darkness, unleashing violence that extended into the early hours of Monday. Many villagers sustained injuries, while scores have fled their homes in fear of further attacks.

 “They came at night on motorcycles and started shooting. The village head was killed, and many others were taken,” a local source told DAILY POST.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of abducted and injured persons remains unconfirmed, and efforts to reach security authorities for official comments are ongoing.

This incident adds to the growing number of violent attacks on Tiv communities in parts of Nasarawa and neighbouring Benue State, prompting renewed calls for enhanced security measures and government intervention.
