Tensions flared on Monday at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in Abuja after security operatives forcefully ejected individuals from the party’s National Caucus Meeting, causing damage to the facility in the process.
The chaotic scene unfolded at the National Executive Committee (NEC) Hall, the scheduled venue for the high-level meeting. According to eyewitness accounts, the disruption began when two individuals, reportedly not official members of the NEC, refused to vacate the hall despite being asked to do so by PDP protocol officers.
The standoff escalated, prompting the intervention of security operatives, who physically dragged the individuals out. In the process, the glass entrance door to the NEC hall was shattered, raising concerns over the conduct and escalation of force within party premises.
The identities and motives of the two individuals remain unclear as of press time.
This latest disruption comes amid a deepening leadership crisis within the PDP. Earlier, POLITICS NIGERIA reported the arrival of top party figures at the secretariat, including:Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed
Other key members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and state party chairmen
The party’s internal crisis, marked by disputes over the legitimacy of the acting leadership and the status of its National Executive Committee meeting—has increasingly drawn national attention and public concern.
