Former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina has revealed that the late President Muhammadu Buhari did not own a residence in London, contrary to widespread assumptions.
Speaking on Channels Television, Adesina said Buhari stayed in the Nigerian High Commission's apartment during his medical trips to the UK, even spending months there during his eight-month medical leave.
Adesina explained that Buhari had used the same medical team in London before and during his presidency, which influenced his preference for receiving treatment there.
He further disclosed that Buhari often relied on wealthy friends to cover medical and personal expenses, mentioning names like Aliko Dangote and Abdulsalami Abubakar.
Regarding Buhari’s children attending elite schools abroad, Adesina quoted the former president as saying, “I do not know. It’s my friends that pay it.”
Adesina described Buhari as “a man of goodwill” who benefited from the consistent support of influential allies throughout his life.
