Chelsea star Cole Palmer has fired back at critics following the Blues' emphatic 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Palmer was the standout performer at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, scoring twice and assisting Joao Pedro’s goal to seal Chelsea’s dominant win.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, the England international expressed satisfaction with the team's performance and praised manager Enzo Maresca for his tactical approach.
“Even better, because obviously everyone doubted us before the game,” Palmer said. “I like finals and it happened again. The gaffer put a great game plan out. He knew where the space was going to be. I just had to repay him and score some goals.”
Palmer added that Maresca is building “something special” at Chelsea and believes the team is “going in the right direction.”
His brilliant display earned him the Player of the Tournament award, capping off a memorable night for the 22-year-old and his team.
