Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), debunking rumours suggesting his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described the reports as “false and misleading,” urging the public to disregard what he called “fake news.”
“I assure the good people of Osun that I remain part and parcel of the PDP family. I am not defecting to any party,” Adeleke declared, emphasizing his continued leadership role within the PDP in Osun State.
The governor reiterated his commitment to delivering on his administration’s five-point development agenda, stating that speculation over party affiliation would not distract him from his mandate. “I am committed to our people and our mandate. What concerns me now is fulfilling the promises we made, not party speculation,” he said.
Adeleke’s clarification comes amid mounting momentum around the ADC, recently unveiled as a coalition platform for opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections. The coalition reportedly includes senior politicians from both the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sources involved in the coalition's planning revealed that five PDP governors have expressed commitment to joining the movement, but are waiting for internal disputes within the PDP—especially those involving the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, to be resolved before going public.
Additional reports suggest that discussions are ongoing with governors from both the APC and PDP, with up to seven being actively courted across regions.
Despite the growing political realignment, Governor Adeleke’s latest statement makes clear his stance: he remains firmly with the PDP and focused on governance, not partisan speculation.
