Kebbi Governor Vows to Sign Death Warrants for Convicted Bandits, Informants Within 24 Hours - The Alternative News

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has reaffirmed his commitment to signing death warrants for any convicted bandits or informants within 24 hours of sentencing, vowing that such individuals will face capital punishment.

The governor made this declaration on Sunday during a condolence visit to Zogirma village in Bunza Local Government Area, where a recent bandit attack claimed the lives of three police officers and several residents.

Dr. Idris condemned the actions of informants who aid criminal elements, labeling them as “bad eggs” sabotaging national security for trivial personal gains.

“I will not hesitate to sign the death warrant of any convicted bandit or informant within 24 hours. Life imprisonment is too lenient for them. They should face capital punishment because they don’t deserve to live among us,” he stated.

While offering prayers for the deceased officers and victims, the governor assured the community of intensified security efforts. He announced the deployment of more security personnel to Zogirma and other vulnerable parts of the state.

“This is a government of the people. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure our citizens can sleep with their two eyes closed. Security remains our top priority, and we will not treat it with levity,” Governor Idris affirmed.

Appreciating, the Chairman of Bunza Local Government Area, Hon. Zayyanu Shehu, commended the governor’s prompt intervention and support, including a N50 million donation and the distribution of food items to victims of the attack.

Also speaking, the District Head of Zogirma, Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad (Sarkin Yakin Zogirma), praised the governor for prioritizing the safety and welfare of citizens. He appealed for the sustained deployment of additional security personnel to safeguard lives and property in the area.
