The Ogun State Police Command has declared four unidentified cultists wanted following a fatal attack in Atan-Ota that claimed the life of a 44-year-old man, Bashiru Saidu, believed to be a member of the Eiye Confraternity.
According to police spokesperson CSP Omolola Odutola, the attack occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday when four gunmen on two motorcycles shot Saidu in the head along Bankole Onibukun Street. He was confirmed dead at the scene and his body was taken to the State Hospital Mortuary in Ilaro.
The incident, reportedly a clash between rival cult groups, has prompted the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, to deploy the Anti-Cultism Unit to apprehend the perpetrators. Odutola emphasized the command’s zero tolerance for cult-related violence and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
This incident follows the recent arrest of 14 suspected cultists in Ijebu-Ode, allegedly plotting another attack.
