Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has distanced himself from campaign posters circulating in Abuja suggesting his interest in the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Thursday by Michael Ohiare, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office in Lokoja, the posters were described as the handiwork of mischief makers intent on tarnishing Bello’s image.
“They are at it again, having failed on many fronts in their desperate ‘bring-him-down-at-all-costs’ mission,” Ohiare stated.
He emphasized that Bello remains a loyal party member and staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He noted that no one was authorised to produce or distribute such campaign materials on the former governor’s behalf.
“This is not the first time mischief makers have printed posters in his name. Silence is no longer an option,” the statement added.
The public was urged to disregard the posters and see them for what they are, attempts to embarrass Yahaya Bello and sow confusion within the party.
