Gov. Abiodun Warns Against Disruption Ahead Ogun By-Election - The Alternative News

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has warned that his administration will deal decisively with anyone attempting to disrupt Saturday’s by-election in the Remo Federal Constituency.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, Abiodun stressed that the poll was not a battle, but a democratic process to elect a replacement for the late Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who represented the constituency in the House of Representatives.

“I have heard that some people are issuing threats; this is not a threat we will take lightly. Anyone who causes trouble on Saturday will be dealt with. As Chief Security Officer of Ogun State, I assure you that no threat will succeed. Anyone we catch will face the full wrath of the law," the governor said.

Abiodun emphasised that the by-election should be devoid of thuggery, describing it instead as an opportunity to sustain the quality representation provided by the late Hon. Onanuga. He urged residents to vote for the APC candidate, Adesola Elegbeji, whom he described as “highly intellectual, cool-headed, and knowledgeable.”

Highlighting Ogijo’s strategic position as a border town, the governor pledged continued government attention to its development.

The by-election is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
