Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has publicly defended his political integrity, stating that he has never been involved in thuggery, ballot box snatching, or any form of electoral malpractice throughout his career.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Obi emphasized his commitment to peaceful, issue-based politics, challenging anyone to produce evidence of misconduct linked to him.

 “Throughout my political journey, I have never been involved in thuggery, the snatching of ballot boxes, or any form of electoral malpractice,” 

“I challenge anyone: conduct your investigations. You will find no stains of rigging or violence associated with my name," Obi stated.

Obi further stressed that his political opponents have never been denied their rights or unfairly targeted, adding that he has always promoted fair competition and ethical campaigning.

On the backlash surrounding his one-term presidency pledge, Obi said the outrage only reflects a national skepticism towards honest leadership.

 “It baffles me that my decision to do a term of four years is causing so much agitation. A sincere leader can achieve much in 48 months,” he argued.

Reiterating that he is not desperate for power, Obi distanced himself from aggressive political tactics, asserting that his goal is national transformation, not personal ambition.

He said a focused administration could use one term to:fight corruption, enforce the rule of law, redirect resources from wasteful spending to essential sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
