The Osun State Police Command has begun investigations into the mysterious death of a young lady, Bidemi Omole, who died shortly after arriving at her boyfriend’s house in Esa-Oke, Osun State.
According to eyewitness accounts, Bidemi had gone to visit her boyfriend, identified as Yinka, on Friday evening when she suddenly took ill. She reportedly began vomiting not long after her arrival and was rushed to a hospital, but she passed away on the way.
The incident, which happened around 9:30 p.m., threw the Oke Esa community into confusion, drawing a large crowd of residents to the scene.
A neighbour, simply identified as Taye, told PUNCH Online that the deceased was believed to be heading for a Friday vigil before her sudden death.
“We heard cries for help and rushed to Yinka’s house. By the time I got there, a lot of people and security personnel were already on the scene. It was shocking, because she usually attends vigil on Fridays,” she said.
Confirming the development, the Osun Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the matter was reported to the police on Saturday. He revealed that the boyfriend, Yinka, had been arrested to aid investigations.
“The deceased, Bidemi Omole, went to her boyfriend’s house in Esa-Oke. Shortly after arriving, she fell ill and started vomiting. She was being taken to the hospital but died on the way,” Ojelabi explained.
“The boyfriend is in police custody. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.”
