President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Saturday visit Plateau State for a condolence visit and meetings with Christian leaders.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President will depart Lagos for Jos, the Plateau State capital, to attend the funeral prayers of Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, mother of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nantewe Yilwatda Goshwe.

The statement added that Tinubu will also address church leaders from across the North at the headquarters of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Jos before returning to Lagos the same day.

Meanwhile, former President Goodluck Jonathan has described the 2014 abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls as a permanent scar on his legacy.

Speaking on Friday at the public presentation of Scars: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum, a memoir by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (rtd.), Jonathan said no plastic surgeon could remove the pain of the Chibok tragedy.

 “The title of this book is quite interesting. One of the major scars on my government is the Chibok Girls. As Bishop Kukah said, no plastic or cosmetic surgeon can remove it. It is a scar I will die with,” Jonathan stated.

He praised Irabor for his service to Nigeria, describing him as a “good soldier who stood for the truth and never played politics with security issues.”

Naija News reports that 276 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, in 2014. While many were later rescued or escaped, about 80 remain in captivity with their fate uncertain.
