Former Presidential Media Aide, Bashir Ahmad, has revealed that two more state governors are set to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ahmad made the disclosure in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday night, hinting that Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, and another governor from the North West region will soon join the APC.

 “In just a matter of days, the Governor of Taraba State and another Governor from the North West will officially join our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Ahmad wrote.

If confirmed, the development would further strengthen the APC’s dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of June 2025, at least two sitting governors, Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, had already defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Meanwhile, Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, is also widely rumoured to be considering a switch to the ruling party, though no official statement has been made in that regard.
