Governor Abdullahi Sule has dismissed reports alleging that he is secretly supporting the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general election.
The denial follows a media report claiming that Sule had pledged substantial financial backing to Atiku in a bid to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, the governor described the report as “a complete fabrication” and “false in its entirety.”
Addra also refuted claims that Sule held a secret meeting with Atiku during the lesser Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, insisting that no such engagement took place.
According to the statement, the governor remains a committed supporter of President Tinubu and has consistently used public platforms to commend the administration’s leadership.
The governor’s aide further alleged that unnamed political actors were behind the report, accusing them of attempting to undermine the relationship between Sule and the president.
He added that governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain united in their support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, stressing that “no false narrative” would weaken their position.
