Chelsea FC have parted ways with head coach Liam Rosenior after just 107 days in charge, following a string of disappointing results in the Premier League.
The club confirmed the decision in a statement on Wednesday, noting that recent performances had fallen below expected standards. Chelsea suffered five consecutive league defeats without scoring, prompting the move.
Rosenior, who was appointed in January on a six-year contract to replace Enzo Maresca, leaves with the club sitting seventh in the league table, seven points adrift of UEFA Champions League qualification places.
Despite his departure, the club acknowledged his professionalism and contributions during his brief tenure, stating that the decision was taken after careful consideration.
Chelsea have now appointed Calum McFarlane as interim head coach until the end of the season. He will take charge of the team starting with Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United at Wembley Stadium.
The club added that a thorough process will be undertaken to secure a permanent head coach, as it aims to stabilise the team and push for European qualification.
