Abeokuta – In a continued effort to support citizens across all social strata, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun, has donated an 18-seater bus to the DA Brass Band.
The gesture was announced on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, who recognised the group’s significant role in promoting government programmes and achievements through music deeply rooted in the state’s cultural heritage.
The band, officially known as the Dapo Abiodun Melodious Brass Band, is led by Mr Sunday Opebiyi.
Speaking after the presentation, Mr Opebiyi expressed profound gratitude to the Governor and the state government. “We are deeply appreciative of this generous donation. This bus will make a tremendous difference in our ability to move our equipment and members to various events across the state,” he said.
He added, “We thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for recognising our humble contribution to promoting his administration’s achievements. This support will only spur us to do more.”
The DA Brass Band has been a regular feature at official functions, using its vibrant sound to reflect the unique spirit of Ogun State and amplify the activities of the Abiodun administration.
The new bus, according to Mr Talabi, will enhance the band’s mobility, enabling them to reach and entertain more people across the state, thereby increasing the positive impact of their performances.
“We extend our sincere gratitude for this significant contribution,” the government spokesperson added, congratulating the group on the empowerment.
The donation underscores the administration’s commitment to empowering cultural ambassadors and fostering inclusive development under its #BuildingOurFutureTogether agenda.
