Gunmen suspected to be assassins have killed a young politician and community mobiliser, Samuel Obe Ngobe, in Ebubu.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on May 22, took place at a hotel owned by the deceased in Eleme Local Government Area. According to reports, two masked assailants arrived on a motorcycle, stormed the premises, and opened fire on him at close range.
Sources said the attackers also seized mobile phones from hotel staff in an apparent attempt to prevent them from raising alarm during the operation.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, stated that an investigation into the killing is ongoing.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over targeted killings and security challenges in parts of the state, as residents call for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
