Paris Saint-Germain have retained their UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal on penalties following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
The Gunners took an early lead through Kai Havertz, who raced through on goal and finished clinically.
Mikel Arteta’s men remained resolute for much of the encounter until PSG were awarded a penalty after Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia inside the box.
Ousmane Dembélé stepped up and sent David Raya the wrong way to restore parity for the French side.
With both teams unable to find a winner during regulation and extra time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Arsenal’s hopes were dashed as Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães failed to convert their penalties.
PSG capitalised on the misses to secure victory and retain the prestigious European title, becoming the first team to win the Champions League back-to-back under the new format.
