‎ The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Engr. Olufisan Osiyale, has reiterated government's commitment towards the wellbeing of its retirees, especially those of the State Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Local Government.

‎ ‎Engr. Osiyale, gave the assurance during the sensitisation, verification and screening exercise for Public Primary School Teachers and Local Government Workers, whose retirement fall between January 1st, 2027 and December 31st, 2027 at the Bureau's office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying, the screening exercise was mandatory to ensure prompt consolidation of Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) of officers retiring under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

‎ The Permanent Secretary, represented by the Director of Finance and Account of the Bureau, Mrs. Monsurat Toriola, pointed out that the  State government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun remained resolute on the drive to improve the living standard of  retirees, noting that the effort of the senior citizens while in  service is worthy of appreciation.

‎ Speaking earlier, Director of Contributory Pension Scheme in the Bureau, Mr. Micheal Sanu, explained that the State government introduced the Additional Pension Benefits (APB) to strengthen the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and provide additional financial support to retirees, emphasising that it would be paid at the point of exit from the service, while urging intending retirees to submit their documents at least 6 months before retirement.

‎ Speaking on behalf of the Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs), representatives from Fidelity Pensions and Oak Pensions, Mr. Wale Adeniran and Mr. Oluwagbami Olaife respectively, revealed that the essence of the exercise was to verify and update the records of officers retiring within the slated period in order to facilitate the timely processing and payment of retirement benefits.

‎They enjoined the intending retirees to inform their PFAs of any changes in their documents for immediate proper corrections, as this would help in paying their retirement benefits on time, advising them to engage in stress free and low risk businesses because of their age and health.

‎‎ In their separate remarks, some of the participants, Mrs. Bilikis Hussein and Mr. Rasheed Lawal, appreciated the State government and the Bureau for organising the sensitisation and verification exercise, saying that the programme had broadened their knowledge on how to spend their retirement benefits on gainful businesses
