Osoba Alleges Plot to Split Tinubu’s Southern Votes Ahead of 2027 - The Alternative News

A former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, has raised concerns over an alleged plot to divide the southern votes of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Osoba made the claim in Abeokuta during the announcement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary results, where Governor Dapo Abiodun, who served as collation officer, declared that Tinubu secured 322,485 votes to emerge winner.

Speaking after the announcement, Osoba cautioned party members against complacency, warning that the political landscape ahead of 2027 may be more competitive than it appears.

He alleged that key southern political figures, including Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, and former President Goodluck Jonathan, could contribute to splitting votes in the region if they contest.

According to him, emerging political alignments suggest a “strong gang-up” aimed at weakening Tinubu’s dominance in the South by presenting multiple candidates from the same region.

Osoba urged members of the All Progressives Congress to remain vigilant and united, stressing that the perception of having no viable opposition could be misleading.

He also called on party faithful in Ogun State to reciprocate what he described as developmental efforts by the president through continued electoral support.

The remarks come amid increasing political realignments and speculation over potential contenders as opposition figures intensify moves to challenge the ruling party in the next general election.
