Adeboye Reveals What He Told Tinubu Over Terrorism, Kidnapping - The Alternative News

The General Overseer of the  (RCCG), , has raised alarm over the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, revealing details of his discussion with President.

Adeboye said terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, once largely confined to northern Nigeria, have now spread closer to his residence in the southern region, describing the situation as alarming.

Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award gala organised by the  in Washington, the cleric lamented that those responsible for the violence are widely known but continue to operate freely without consequences.

“It’s so bad, far worse, that people are asking, ‘Where is your God?’ That’s how bad things are,” Adeboye said. “The terrorism, kidnappings, and other criminal activities that used to happen in the north are now happening near my home.”

He disclosed that he had a direct conversation with President Tinubu and the First Lady, , who is also a pastor in the RCCG, urging decisive action to tackle the security crisis.

According to Adeboye, he advised the President to issue firm directives to military authorities, including setting a 90-day ultimatum to end the menace.
“Wipe out this rubbish or resign. Then take care of the supporters and the sponsors,” he said.

The cleric further alleged that influential individuals, including politicians and businessmen, are behind the activities of terrorists and bandits. He stressed that addressing insecurity requires targeting those who fund and supply resources to criminal groups.

“Some of them are businessmen. Some of them are politicians. Go after them. If you don’t take action against those providing weapons and bullets, the problem will persist,” he added.

Adeboye emphasised that without confronting the sponsors of terrorism, efforts to curb insecurity in the country may continue to yield limited results.
