Protests against rising insecurity in Abuja have entered their third day, with demonstrators blocking a major roadway linking the capital to neighbouring communities.
The protesters barricaded a bridge along the Karu-Nyanya Expressway, a critical route connecting Abuja to Nasarawa State, causing severe disruption to movement.
Carrying placards and chanting anti-government slogans, the demonstrators called on authorities to take urgent steps to address the worsening security situation and protect lives and property.
The protest began with on the bridge before participants marched towards Nyanya, further intensifying traffic congestion along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway. Many commuters were left stranded for hours as the blockade brought vehicular movement to a standstill.
According to the protesters, the increasing cases of kidnappings, violent attacks, and general insecurity have made daily life unbearable for residents.
Security operatives were deployed to monitor the situation and manage traffic, while motorists were advised to seek alternative routes.
There were no confirmed incidents of violence or casualties, although the protest continued to significantly disrupt traffic along the Karu-Nyanya axis.
